Jimtown beats New Prairie 9-4
Katie Woods went 2-4, helping Jimtown to a 9-4 victory over New Prairie on Tuesday.
She singled in the third inning and doubled in the fifth inning.
Ashley Alvey recorded the win for Jimtown. She allowed four runs over seven innings. Alvey struck out three, walked none and gave up eight hits.
Alexis Fain was charged with the loss. She allowed nine runs in seven innings, walked one and struck out six.
Jimtown went up for good in the second, scoring one run on an RBI double by Alvey.
New Prairie scored three runs in the bottom of the third to cut its deficit to one. An error, a fielder’s choice, and an RBI single by Brooke Prestin gave New Prairie life. The New Prairie threat came to an end when Alvey finally got Ashton Woods to ground out.
Jimtown tacked on another two runs in the fifth. Woods doubled, plating Allie Woods to start the inning. That was followed up by Bailey Clark’s single, scoring Woods.
One run in the bottom of the sixth helped New Prairie close its deficit to 9-4. An RBI double by Maura Romstadt triggered New Prairie’s comeback. Finally, Alvey induced an inning-ending ground out from Ashlyn Kopinski.
