It was a great day for golf, sunny with temperature in the 70s. The course was in great shape, the greens were a little slow and the Jimmies had a bad day at golf. The Jimmies still managed to shoot a 188. This wasn’t good enough because New Prairie shot a 178 and LaVille shot a 188. The tie breaker gave LaVille the win. The Jimtown record is now 9 wins and 8 losses. Broc Maurer was again the Medalist with a score of 40. He didn’t have the greatest of starts. On the first hole, a sweeping hook landed in the trees and he took a triple bogy on the hole. He settled down and on the next hole had a birdie coupled with a string of pars and another birdie to give him the 40 score. Tyler “Bubba” Wenger didn’t have a good day. He broke his driver on the 4th hole. He had a string of double bogies and bogies and only managed to get 2 pars. He had a score of 48. He didn’t seem to be a happy camper when he finished the 9th hole. Jeff Payne finished with a 49 which is his average score for nine holes. Jeff had 6 bogies, one double bogie, and one score we won’t talk about. Austin Secor finished with a 51 which was better than his average of 54. Austin had one par, 3 bogies, 4 double bogies and a very bad first hole. Hunter Price finished the scoring for the varsity with a score of 58. This was nine strokes above his average. Hunter managed to get one par, 2 bogies,1 double bogie, and 5 holes where he got to play in the water, weeds, trees and any other hazard the course had to offer.
The Jimtown J.V. team shot a score of 243. Tanner Magyar had a 59, Cade Campbell had a 54, Grant Bour had a 64, and Skylar Lay had a 66.
The Jimmies next match will be on Thursday, May 28th, at McCormick against Goshen and Westview. Then on Tuesday, June 2nd, the Jimmies will face Northwood at McCormick. This will also be our Senior and Awards night following the match. It will be held in the barn at McCormick Creek. All parents and family members are invited. We will have a carry-in pot-luck dinner prior to the award ceremony. Before the match, we will be honoring the seniors and their parents. This should be a great send off for our seniors who have contributed so much to our golf program.
