Game Recap

Jimtown Junior High 8th grade boys basketball team extended their season by beating Northwood and Schmucker Middle schools in the Big 11 Tournament on Saturday. The Jimmies fought hard in the Quarterfinals defeating Northwood on their home court for the second time this year 30-26. It was a great team defensive effort mixing up looks on Northwood and never allowing them to get into a groove offensively. The Jimmies were lead in scoring by Bill Pawlak (10 pts), Dustin Whitman (7 pts), and Preston Phillips (6 pts).
The Jimmies then had to turn around and play Schmucker in the Semi Finals. The Jimmies came out on top of the Trojans 38-31. The Jimmies came out fast jumping out to the lead and extending that lead to 14 late in the 3rd quarter. Schmucker turned up the pressure on Jimtown who was forced to hit some pressure filled free-throws late in the game to ice the victory. Preston Phillips had some key buckets for the Jimmies scoring 10 points. Bill Pawlak and Dustin Whitman added some more clutch shooting of their own with 9 points a piece. Tony Pletcher was a force on the boards all day long and added 7 points of his own. Both victories were great team wins by all players.
The Jimmies will now play in the Championship game on Tuesday night @ Northside Gym against Northridge Middle School who defeated the Jimmies earlier in the year. The Jimmies will need your support as they go for some hardware in their first year in the new conference.
