Multiple Teams · Shawntel James signs to play at St. Joseph’s College

Pictured above are Shawntel James alongside her parents Kimberly and Shawn James.  Behind Shawntel are her NIVA (Club) Volleyball Coach, Adria Anderson and her high school volleyball coach, Bill Stose.

Jimtown’s own standout, 3-sport student-athlete, Shawntel James has signed her National Letter of Intent to continue her Academic and Volleyball Careers at St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana.  St Joe College is an NCAA Division 2 school that is a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC).  Their programs have won numerous conference championships, and hundreds of their student athletes have been recognized with All-Conference, All-American, and Academic All-American honors.

Shawntel has been a standout at Jimtown in 3 sports during her 4 years in high school—Volleyball, Basketball and Track.  The 3 sport female athlete seems to be increasingly rare in today’s culture.  This is especially true considering the leadership and high quality athlete that Jimtown has had in Shawntel.

Shawntel is a two time state finals qualifier in the long jump during track season (could be 3 times in a row—her senior season just started).  She has also been an NSC and NIC all-conference participant in both volleyball and basketball.  She has been a varsity starter or active contributor on all of these sports since her 9th grade year.

To make the package complete—Shawntel is an excellent student in the classroom.  She carries an impressive 3.6 GPA (out of 4.0) and will graduate this June with an Indiana Academic Honors Diploma.  She has been named a Kiwanis Student Athlete of the Season twice during her high school career.   Shawntel is a great role model for our younger kids and has always represented Jimtown with pride and great intensity on the court or track.

We wish Shawntel the best of luck in the future at St. Joe.  We know and are confident that she will represent her college with the same level of excellence that she has represented the Baugo Community.   Once a Jimmie always a Jimmie!!
