Another multi-sport athlete has signed to continue his academic and athletic career at the next level!!
In this case, Blane Bender (a three sport athlete for Jimtown) has elected to continue 2 of those sports at the next level. On Monday, May 23rd, Blane signed his national letter of intent to attend Ancilla College in Donaldson, Indiana. He will play both basketball and baseball for the Chargers.
The 6 foot 4 inch Bender has been a 4 year player on both the basketball and baseball team at Jimtown. He played power forward in Coach Marcus Moore’s system and (most of the time) 1st base in Coach Darin Mast’s baseball program. Blane has always been known amongst the coaches as a kid that will do anything you ask of him and play in any capacity that helps the team win. He is a hard-nosed kid that loves competition and loves Jimtown. He may not be able to, but if you asked Blane to run through a brick wall for the team, he would try to do it. Blane also ran cross-country for the last couple of years for the Jimmies in the fall. Mainly as a way to get in and stay in shape for basketball. Ultimately, Blane found out that he was not a bad runner either.
He will join a Charger program that has been expanding their athletic offerings over the last several years. The campus is growing and they have been building some very nice facilities in the hopes of attracting student-athletes just like Blane Bender.
