Jimtown senior softball player Ashley Alvey has signed her national letter of intent to continue to athletic and academic careers next year at Indiana Tech University in Fort Wayne. Ashley has been a standout pitcher in the Jimtown softball program all 4 years of her time at Jimtown. She has been a starting pitcher for the Lady Jimmies in both her sophomore and junior years and we certainly figure her to be a central hub in the Jimmies chances this spring. With the early signing, Ashley will certainly be able to put to rest worries about whether she will play in college and can focus on having a great senior season this spring. Ashley has led the team in strikeouts and earned-run average (ERA) over the last 2 seasons. She is the pitcher that the Jimmies have gone to in the biggest games and the one that we rely on to get the job done when the game is on the line.
Ashley has signed to play softball next year at Indiana Tech. Indiana Tech is located in Fort Wayne, Indiana and was founded in 1930. It is a member of the NAIA. The school has an enrollment of just shy of 1500 students on the Fort Wayne Campus. The Warriors have had some outstanding small college athletes over the years and the University can boast of the following accomplishments in athletic world:
- Producing eight national championships, the latest being awarded in 2016 to the men’s track and field team.
- Recognizing 43 individual national champions.
- Playing in 113 national tournament appearances.
- Having three Warriors drafted by Major League baseball teams.
Today’s college signing represents the 1st college signing for Jimtown in the 2016-2017 school year. We certainly expect that there will be many more to come.
Congratulations to Ashley Alvey!! We know that you will represent your school, your community and your family well at Indiana Tech.
Once a Jimmie–always a Jimmie!!
