The IHSAA wrestling state tournament started last Saturday. Based on injuries and defections, Jimtown knew that it would be tough to repeat as sectional champs. Nevertheless, the Jimmies gave it a good run and lead the field for most of the day in the early rounds. Eventually the Jimmies ran out of ammo and could not get any more points to fend off the championship round onslaught from the heavier weight classes. Jimtown finished 3rd overall in the sectional, but was only 5 points from 1st place.
The good news is that the Jimmies had 7 wrestlers advance to the regional competition, which will be held this Saturday the 4th of February at Goshen High School. Out of the 7 advancing, 4 of our wrestlers were sectional champions:
Hunter Watts: 113 pound sectional champ
Matt Gimson: 126 pound sectional champ
Connor Gimson: 132 pound sectional champ
in addition to these 4, the Jimmies had 2 runners up:
Ethan Eberhart: 106 pound sectional runner up
Dalton Heintzberger: 182 pound sectional runner up
We are very proud of our Jimmies. It is especially exciting to see the kids get rewarded who are willing to stick it out—good times and tough. This is where is pays off, if you don’t quit.
GO JIMMIES!!! Good luck at Regional
