In the Kelly Relays at Concord High School the boys track team took second place while winning 4 events.
In this unusual competition there are no individual events. There are 9 relay races and 5 field event “relays” in which teams of three have their best efforts added together for an overall team place.
The high jump team consisting of Sam Pawlak, Caaden Beck and MIchael WIlliams easily placed first as our trio placed first, second and third. The 4 X 100 and the 4 X 200 relay teams were both victorious using the same 4 speedsters for both relays. Brandon Burkhart, Michael Williams, Kenny Kerrn and Dakotah Pratt brought the baton home ahead of all opponents in both races. The shuttle hurdle relay team won by over three seconds as Kenny teamed up with Nick Snyder, Aaron Burnett, and Alex Hohl to dominate that fun and challenging event.
There were many other fantastic performances at the Kelly Relays. All three members of the shot put relay–Dalton Whitman, Mike Laws and Yuriy Melnik– had their best throws of the year. The pole vault crew placed a surprise third as Matt Decleodt stepped in to help Dylan Runyon and Aaron Reverman. The Freshman relay crew consisting of Tony Pletcher, Nick Snyder, Oscar Zelaya, and Trenton Eaton ran better in each of their legs than they had at those distances all year. Great races were also run by: Nate Hochstetler, Jared Lyle, Matt Decleodt, Tyler Lundy, Kris Waycaster and Andrew O’Brien.
