It is official.
Yuriy Melnik of Jimtown has signed his National Letter of Intent to continue his athletic and academic career at Trine University right here in Indiana. The Angola, Indiana University is part of the NCAA Division 3 and fields a football team that plays in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA). Trine currently has more than 600 student-athletes who compete in 21 varsity sports. Jimtown was pleased to have a brief signing ceremony for Yuriy in the main lobby of Jimtown High School on Monday, May 8th. Yuriy was recruited by Trine as a linebacker (even though he was a 2-way starter for the Jimmies). Yuriy will attempt to make the team at Trine on the “Thunder” defense
Yuriy had a great senior year at Jimtown and was named as an all-NIC football player. In addition, Yuriy was named an area scholar athlete for Moose Krause chapter of the Indiana Football Hall of Fame. This is a great honor and is reserved for those football athletes who are also outstanding in the classroom. Yuriy carries an excellent cumulative GPA and will graduate in just a few weeks from Jimtown with an Indiana Academic Honors Diploma.
GREAT JOB YURIY!! Thanks for all your hard work in the classroom and on the field. You are the kind of young man that we are proud to name as a scholar-athlete at Jimtown High School. Good luck at Trine!!
