Boys Junior Varsity Tennis, Boys Varsity Tennis · Jimmie Tennis wins opening round of Regionals

Congratulations to the tennis team with their first regional win ever in Jimtown tennis.  The team defeated Westview 3 – 2.  The first match done was Ben Clarke at No. 2 Singles winning over 6 – 1, 6 – 2 in about 40 minutes.  Ben really never allowed his opponent to get the advantage from the start.  He was on fire from the beginning and never stopped.  The second point for the Jimmies was the No. 2 Doubles combination of Nate Behrens and Preston Phillips.  They defeated their opponents 6 – 3, 6 – 4.  Both played a tremendous match wanting to be a part of at least one point toward victory.  Outstanding play Nate and Preston.  The final point came from No. 1 Singles, Holden Price.  Holden lost the first set 2 – 6, but came roaring back in the second set to win it at 6 – 0.  He then had to be competitive with his opponent knowing that he knew he would be the third point and would win it for the Jimmies.  He held off his opponent winning 6 – 3 to help the Jimmies clinch the match.  The No. 1 Doubles team of Andrew Emeigh and Tim Gardner played an outstanding match as well but came up short.  Also Austin Pearison at No. 3 Singles played a fantastic match but unfortunately was on the short end of the match.  Both spots at No. 3 Singles and No. 1 Doubles have been quite an important part of the team  We need to remember this a team sport and not just an individual one.  Go Jimmies.
