4 Jimmie Wrestlers will go to Semi-State (3 are Regional Champs)
The Jimtown Jimmies advanced 4 wrestlers from the IHSAA Goshen Regional. All four have earned a spot in the Fort Wayne Semi state next weekend on saturday at War Memorial Coliseum. The Jimmies started the day with 7 wrestlers, 106 Hunter Funderburk would end a solid sophomore campaign losing by fall to Jake Hull of Fremont to finish his season 27-13. 120 Hunter Watts, 126 Hunter Whitman, 132 Matt Gimson, 138 Conner Gimson would all win first round to advance to the semi finals. 152 Sophomore Andrew Eaton lost by fall to Isaiah Levitz of Prairie Heights to end his sophomore season 28-13. 182 Senior DJ Pontius lost to fellow senior Conner Mooney of Central Noble to finish off his career as a Jimmie 17-14.
Semi Final round saw the Jimtown wrestlers win 3 of 4 bouts to advance to the finals. 120 Hunter Watts won by fall over Brad Felder of Central. 126 Hunter Whitman lost by fall to Christian Meija of Elkhart Memorial. 132 Matt Gimson picked up a fall just 1:09 in the first period against Adam Hooley of Northridge. 138 Conner Gimson picked up a fall in the 3rd period against Ryan Rasler of Prairie Heights.
The three wrestlers in the finals all finished on the top of the podium. 120 Hunter Watts defeated Evan Beasley of Northridge in a sectional final rematch winning 15-8. 132 Conner Gimson scored a 10-2 Major Decision over Adam Ledesma of East Noble to give him another regional crown. After finishing runner up in the regional a year ago junior 138 Conner Gimson would not be denied winning a rematch of last years final over Austin Moore of Central Noble by a score of 1-0. 126 Hunter Whitman would drop his final match to finish 4th.
