Jimtown Varsity and JV teams have been working hard preparing both physically and mentally for this years season. Together we have had many great discussions on what it means to be a teammate, and how to serve others. We have talked on the many challenges teams face within, and dedicated ourselves to work hard for each other and to Prepare, LEARN and Compete.
LEARN – “We’re not good enough. None of us, athletes and coaches alike. Yet, YET! We must dedicate ourselves to Learning, to Improving, to honing and polishing every detail of our game; every day, every drill, every contact. If we are willing to operate at the edge of our abilities, and willing to risk the status we have today, we can attain improvement tomorrow.” ~USA Women’s National Team
Along with many hours of practice each day, we have also been finding some time for team bonding activities. Last Friday the team went on the road and practiced on the sand courts at Wings Etc. After a hard workout, they spent time with their teammates talking about the week over lunch. Saturday evening the team had a evening of Team Bonding and traveled to Locked Up in Mishawaka, where each team worked through series of puzzles and riddles; all in an attempt to escape the room within 60 seconds, being given only 3 clues. Of course the loud singing and dancing of the Jimtown Fight song, much to the amusement of the Coaches, begged them an additional clue to aide their escape.
