Girls Varsity Volleyball · Volleyball Finishes Strong, preparing for Sectionals

Jimtown finishes its season strong last week and brings home 3 straight victories against Concord, Riley and Bremen.

On Monday Jimtown defeated Concord in 3 Sets (25-12, 25-20, 25-12).  The team totaled 32 kills and only 7 errors on 90 attempts, hitting an impressive 0.278.  Leaders for the offense included Anna Pope, who had 6 kills and no errors on 13 attempts.  Gabby Desimone achieved 5 kills, 1 error on 12 attempts along with 10 digs for the Jimmies defensively.  Gianna Desimone also had 10 digs and Cassidy Stose lead the defensive effort with 13 digs for the Jimmies.

Tuesday the Jimmies celebrated Senior Night and brought their A Game in a sweeping victory of South Bend Riley (25-12, 25-20, 25-12).  Gianna Desimone dominated the Wildcats with her jump serve, achieving a season high 9 aces for the match.  Orchestrated by Setter Isabel Ortega with 27 assists, the Senior trio of Pope (6 kills), Vandygriff (9 kills) and Stose (8 kills) put together an offense that dominated the Riley defense.   After the match the team spent some time together celebrating our Seniors and Coach shared some memories and stories.  Good Luck Seniors in all your future endeavors; you will be missed by Jimtown Volleyball!

The Jimmies traveled to Bremen for their final match.  The JV and C-Team for the Jimmies saw victories and finished their season playing extremely well as as team.  The Varsity defeated the Lions (26-24, 25-16, 25-21) in a very exciting game to end the season.  The Jimmies showed a very aggressive offense with Isabel Ortega gaining 39 assists with both Anna Pope and Gabby Desimone hitting a 0.400 with 7 kills each.  Cassidy Stose achieved a season high 18 kills for the match.  Sue Vandygriff had 5 kills and 2 blocks for points.  Defensively Ortega denied the Lions attack with 11 digs, Gabby Desimone with 10.   Sophomore Libero Kendall Griffee made her presence known with 4 digs and also finished with her highest serve receive passer rating of the season.

Jimtown enters Sectional play very confident, drawing New Prairie for their first round.  Match will be played at Marian High School, Thursday October 11th at 7pm.  Come out and help cheer on your Jimmies to Victory!
