On Monday, July 13th, the Baugo Community Board of Trustees will consider and vote on a recommendation from Byron Sanders, Superintendent of Schools and the Baugo Basketball Coach Hiring Committee to hire Matt Stoll as the next head boys basketball coach at Jimtown High School.
The hiring committee poured over the many applications that came in to us for the job. Considerations for the job were not simply coaching experience. Playing experience and credibility, teaching ability and areas certified to teach, ideas for improving our feeder programs and the overall personality of the candidates were all considered to find the coach who is the best fit for Jimtown.
Coach Stoll comes from a school roughly the size of Jimtown (Kent City, Michigan). He was a star at Kent City as a 6’7″ swingman. Matt was also the salutatorian of his graduating class. Matt’s intelligence, coachability and drive to keep working on his game, lead him to play for Ferris State in Michigan. Ironically, while a math and physics student and basketball player at Ferris State he became good friends with Sarah Deshone. Of course, Sarah is a former Jimtown standout basketball player from Jimtown. So, Matt knew about Jimtown long before he applied for the job.
Coach Stoll will have a chance to meet some of the players this week as they come back from Covid-19 Lockdown and begin shooting workouts on Cook Court
