Despite a lot of hand wringing, planning, meetings and preparing for the unknown in our Covid 19 Pandemic, Fall Sports at Jimtown are poised to start with full -fledged practices on Monday, August 3rd.
Please stay tuned for additional information to be released in the next week or so regarding ticketing. This will include information on how many tickets we will be allowed to sell for games and how large subsequent crowds will be based on Local and State Health Authorities.
IN THE MEANTIME!! DO YOUR PART….MASK UP, STAY APART FROM OTHERS AND HELP OUR KIDS GET BACK TO SCHOOL AND OUR SENIORS TO HAVE A FALL SPORTS SEASON. It really is THAT simple. If people do their part to help control the spread of Covid 19, our kids will have a chance to compete and move toward a successfull and triumphant return to normalcy. It broke many people’s hearts to have to cancel spring sports last year, taking away our senior’s last chance to play. We hope to never have to do that again!!
In the meantime, we need boys and girls soccer players!! (9th grade boys tennis players also). So far at our limited summer workouts we have had less than the required number of kids attending workouts to have a team. I know that there are families out there that have had kids in youth soccer in the past. There was an outcry for soccer to be added to our sports offerings at Jimtown….so it is time for this kids to step up, put on the jersey and represent their school and the Jimtown Community on the soccer field.
Boys Soccer has tryouts this week beginning on Wednesday and Friday August 5th and 7th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at the practice (grass) soccer field between the Jimtown Elementary and Jimtown Intermediate Schools.
Girls Soccer has tryouts this week also beginning on Monday, August 3rd at 9am on the turf at Sharpe Stadium.
This could be your chance to play on a varsity sport at Jimtown High School!!
All potential athletes must either had an IHSAA physical on file from last year at either the Junior High or High School or they must go get a NEW physical on the IHSAA physical form which is signed by a physician. FYI….they will give IHSAA physicals at your local family physicians office OR you can get one completed at most walk-in or “minute clinics” around the area. You will also need a signed health questionnaire that is new this year and is related to the Covid 19 Pandemic.
