A historic moment for Jimtown Athletics happened this past week,  as the 2nd female student-athletes soccer players in Jimtown history have signed their letters of intent to play soccer at the college level.

The first Jimtown Soccer player to play at the college level was actually 2019 graduate Mikayla Morales.  With school out and everyone staying home from the pandemic last spring, we did not get a chance to properly celebrate Mikayla.

Jimtown just added girls soccer as a sport, three years ago, this past fall.  Two of the students that raised their hands and said, “YES…I will play”are Itzel Toledo and Karina Rufino.

Both seniors have had some soccer experience in the past but not been able to play for Jimtown until we offered soccer as an option.   Both of these young ladies picked up the ball and decided to represent the Jimmies in our inaugural year of soccer.   Each of these young ladies was a starter for the Jimmies and major contributors in our first couple of years of soccer.

Both Itzell and Karina are solid students at Jimtown.  Both young ladies will bring an outstanding work ethic with them in both the academic and athletic worlds at the college level.

Itzel and Karina have now signed their offer from Ancilla College in Donaldson to play soccer for the Chargers.   Itzell’s older sister (and Jimtown Graduate), Yareli Toledo was also able to share this signing ceremony with her sister.    She will also be attending Ancilla next fall to play soccer and pursue her academic goals.

Each of these young ladies will have the opportunity to contribute to their team right away.  In addition, the school is close enough for Mom and Dad to watch some of the games.   Ancilla College is located in Donaldson, Indiana (not that far from Plymouth).    Ancilla is part of the MCAA (Michigan Community Colleges Athletic Association)

Interestingly, the Ancilla Women’s Soccer team is coached by Kalen Sadler.   Kalen was the first-ever soccer coach at Jimtown when we started the program a few years back.

Congratulations to Itzel, Yareli, and Karina!!     We are proud of YOU!!
