Jimtown girls mow down Goshen to close home slate By Red Williams Freelance Sportswriter ELKHART - An explosive first quarter and balanced play were the ingredients that carried Jimtown to a 50-33 victory Tuesday night (1.20.26) over visiting Goshen in high school girls basketball. The Jimmies jumped off to a 24-7 advantage after one period and never looked back. Four players led the opening volley: Lily Steele hit three baskets; Kiera Jackson tossed in two shots, one of them a trey, along with a free-throw; Jordyn Williams nailed two baskets and a pair of charity tosses, and Kamryn Williams put in two baskets. “We moved the ball well and put up an aggressive defense that led to some transition lay-ups,” said Coach Shaunte Williams. The Girls of Baugo cooled off in the following quarters, Williams said, which resulted in some missed shots and turnovers, she said. “Goshen tried to get back in the game with some efficient outside shooting,” Williams added, “but we were able to maintain control with constant energy on both ends of the court.” Jackson led all scorers with 15 points, Jordyn Williams pitched in a dozen and Kamryn Williams finished with10. The Jimmies now are 6-13, and close the season with three straight games on the road. Goshen’s RedHawks are still winless in 20 starts. They were led by Lainey Trenshaw and Charlemagne Miller with 11 each. Score by quarters: Goshen 7 10 10 6 33 Jimtown 24 13 6 7 50
