Jimmies release football schedule for ‘25 By Red Williams Freelance Sportswriter ELKHART - Regretfully, in the process of writing a football schedule for next fall, one of Jimtown High School’s long-time opponents had to be dropped. The new schedule, fashioned by Athletic Director Scott Hamstra and former AD Nate Dean, shows that the opening game will NOT be against neighborhood rival NorthWood. “We wanted to get away from back-to-back games with NorthWood and Concord,” Hamstra explained. “That’s been a tough way to start the season.” Instead of the NW Panthers at the top of the schedule, it will be Wawasee’s Warriors. “We’re not running away,” Hamstra said. “We hope to find a way to get NorthWood back on the schedule. We tried to work out a game with them later in the season, but it didn’t work out.” Cody Vincent, head football coach, echoed Hamstra’s sentiments: “I wish there was a way that we could have kept them on the schedule. I grew up with this rivalry and have a lot of respect for their program. “I would love to get them back on the schedule in the future. We hope to work out something eventually.” Vincent noted that conference obligations don’t leave much flexibility. The second-year coach believes the Jimmies have a tough schedule: “Based on our size, out of our nine regular season games, there are only two opponents with a smaller enrollment.” He also believes the tough schedule should prepare the Jimmies well for the Indiana playoffs.: “We have to be on point every week. There are no ‘easy’ weeks at all.” In addition, Jimtown will have just four home games in the regular season, starting off with second-year opponent Fairfield on Sept. 5. With regard to the addition of Wawasee, Vincent said, “They will be a challenging opponent, especially in week one, on the road. Their head coach will be entering year two there, and he is a very good, well-respected coach.” This scribe also talked with Jack Kite, returning safety for the boys of Baugo. “I’m not a big fan of dropping NorthWood. They are a good team.” He also believes the Jimmies will have no “easy” wins: “Every game will be a challenge.” He also expects a good challenge in the sectional tournament.”There are a lot of good teams,” he said. 2025 Jimtown Football Schedule Aug. 15 Triton controlled scrimmage Aug. 22 at Wawasee Aug. 29 at Concord (to be played at Mishawaka) Sep. 5 Fairfield Sep. 12 Glenn © Sep. 19 at Bremen © Sep. 26 at Tippecanoe Valley © Oct.3 at Knox, 7:30 pm © Oct. 10 LaVille © Oct. 17 Lakeland All other games start at 7 pm.
