Jimtown Athletic Awards Night

Tuesday night, Jimtown Athletics honored many of the spring teams and athletes from this past season. Below are some of the awards and highlights from the night: Boys' Track honored all conference athletes - Brayden House (shot put), Javen Jackson (high jump, 100m), 4 by 100 meter relay team - Ed Potter, James Bell, Javen Jackson, Jackson Fleming, James Bell - at large all conference selection. Brayden House was also honored as he advanced to Regionals in the shot put. Highest GPA on the team went to Ashton Allen. Team awards were MVP - Javen Jackson and Brayden House; Most Improved - James Bell; Mental Attitude Braeden Miller, DCP Award to Jose Cervantes. Academic all conference went to Zachary Fall, Alex Bohlmann, Braeden Miller, Chase Coughenour, Ashton Allen, Jaden Garcia, and Lennart Klages. Girls' Track honored all conference athletes in Brooklyn King (shot put), Kylie Wiegand (100, 200), the 4 by 100 (Kylie Wiegand, Emma Martin, Terrisha Bennett, and Promisse Ruffin, 4 by 800 (Brianna Curtis, Tru Whitaker, Norah Gorbics, and Mikayla Pratt). Kylie Wiegand moved on to Regionals for the 100 and 200. The 4 by 100 team also moved on to regionals. Brooklyn King will participate in state (the first in over a decade for Jimtown Girls' track) this Saturday. Highest GPA on the team went to Norah Gorbics, Macie LaFree, and Presley Whitaker. Girls' track also had the highest average GPA for all the Spring Sports. Team Awards were MVP - Kylie Wiegand and Brooklyn King; Most Improved - Brianna Curtis; Mental Attitude - Tru Whitaker and Ashlynn Sherman, DCP Award - Mikayla Pratt. Academic All Conference went to Kylie Wiegand, Elliott DiPiro, Presley Whitaker, Ava Barbour, and Tru Whitaker. Unified Track honored their highest GPA award winner to Logan LaFree. Team awards were MVP - Henry Randolph; Mental Attitude Collin Hilton; Most Improved Chad Meyers. The team also celebrated a 4th place finish at Sectionals. Tennis honored Natalie Butler and Clara Jackson as all conference athletes. Natalie also advanced to regionals. Team GPA winners were Aleda Doering and Lucy Rosentreter. Team Awards were MVP - Natalie Butler; Mental Attitude - Nadia Urban and Amalyah Brothers; Most Improved - Clara Jackson. Academic All Conference went to Chloe McMullin and Lucy Rosentreter. Golf honored Jack Kite and Cooper Dillenbeck as all conference athletes. They will be participating in sectionals on Monday at Erskine. Highest GPA award went to Kaiden Leitch. Team awards were MVP/Low Average - Tatsu Gravender and Jack Kite; Most Improved - Kaiden Leitch; Mental Attitude - Chase Clay. Academic All conference award winners were Jack Kite and Kaiden Leitch. Softball has not announced all conference selections yet. Softball highest GPA went to Rylan Polston, Victoria Swald, and Maleah Wingard. Team awards MVP - Kiyla Eberhart; Mental Attitude - Maleah Wingard and Claire Carlson; Most Improved Nora Hochstetler. Academic All conference went to Layla Winrott and Brooklyn Gillespie. Baseball has not announced their all conference selections. Baseball highest GPA - Jackson Arbogast and Ty Zartman. Their team awards will be given at the end of their season. Academic All conference is Landon Garretson, Collin Davis, Jackson Arbogast, Ty Zartman, Cole Dutton, Connor Christman, and Mason Armstrong. The team will compete in Regionals this Saturday against Boone Grove. Spring Athletic academic information - Spring Athletes' Average GPA - 3.33 Jimtown High School Average GPA - 2.978 Special Thank you to the following: Athletes - thank you for your effort, and representing our community so well - it was a pleasure watching you play. Parents - thank you for the time, the sacrifice, and for allowing your child to play Coaches - thank you for the time, commitment, effort that you give to try and put for the best experience for our athletes. Carl Landis - thank you for your daily work to help keep us healthy Rita Gorbics - thank you for everything - she does it all!! Thank all our helpers at scorers tables - Bill Gletty, Ben Polk, Geoff DiPiro, Mike Kelly, Heather Gletty, and Brenda Wohlford Thank you to Jose Lacan, Scott Goetz, Steve Williams, Dave Wolford, Steve Sandsmark, Larry Newland for the many repairs and maintenance they do. Thank you to the many volunteers - many, many people volunteer so we can enjoy the many events that are put on. Thank you officials for taking the time away from your family and serving your community by allowing our student athletes to compete.
