Jimmies buried at ‘Death Valley’ By Red Williams Freelance Sportswriter AKRON - There is no joy in Baugo: The Mighty Jimmies were shut out. Even though some of the walking wounded were back in action Friday night (9.27.25), it wasn’t enough as host Tippecanoe Valley thoroughly thumped Jimtown, 33-0, in high school football. The onslaught delighted the raucous home crowd on this balmy early autumn night. A mere scattering of fans showed up for the Boys of Baugo, perhaps 100. There was hardly a breeze to flutter the flags. In evaluating Tippe’s Vikings, Jimmy coach Cody Vincent said, “They were huge. They completely overpowered us.” Jimtown now is 1-5 for the season, including 0-3 in the Indiana Northern State Conference. TV is 4-2 and 2-1. A few stats show how dominating was Tippe’s thrashing of the Jimmies on this dismal evening: Jimtown didn’t get a first down in the contest until three minutes were left in the first half, the only scoring threat it mounted. Tippe’s defense forced Jimtown to punt eight times, all of them three-and-out. TV racked up 377 yards on the ground, compared to Baugo’s 53. “We made a lot of little, dumb mistakes,” bemoaned Vincent. “It just wasn’t our night.” He said a few new plays were added to Jimtown’s playbook during practice, which it tried to no avail. Vincent cited Chase Coughenour for his efforts in running the ball, gaining 60 yards in 14 carries. And Brodric Kaler for his defensive game. He laid a hit on Valley’s quarterback Hunter Stage in the third period, forcing a fumble and kept him off the field the rest of the game. Tippe’s ground attack was explosive and powerful. Wes Parker notched 200 yards in 25 carries, and the bullish Grady Moriarty (5-foot-11, 223 pounds) had 162 yards in 17 totes and scored three touchdowns. He’s son of the TV head coach Steve Moriarty. The Jimmies did win the turnover battle, 1-3, but were unable to convert any of them into points. It doesn’t get any easier for the Boys of Baugo, with a road trip to Knox next Friday.
