The Jimmies dropped an NIC South battle on the banks of the Baugo to Marian 17-3. The Jimtown Jimmies (2-3, 2-1 NIC South) played as well as they have all year defensively against a Marian Knights team that had averaged over 47 points per game. The Jimmies held the highly regarded Knights to just over 200 yards of offense and 17 points.
Late in the first quarter Marian scored on a 24 yard pass to make it 7-0 Knights. The jimmies battled back and Isaac Daniels hit a 27 yard FG at the end of the 2nd quarter to make it 7-3 at halftime.
Marian connected on a 26 yard FG at the end of the 3rd quarter to make it a 10-3 Knight advantage. The Jimmies responded in a big way when Clay Campbell hit Dustin Whitman on a 49 yard completion to set the Jimmies up in Knight territory with just under 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter. The Knights then intercepted Campbell 3 plays later to stymie the Jimtown surge to tie the game.
Marian finished the game by driving down to the Jimmie goal line, but fumbled when going into the endzone. Unfortunately the Knights pounced on the ball and pushed the score to 17-3 with just over a minute left.
The Jimmies are back in action next Friday night at Jake Field against the undefeated and 5A #4 Concord Minutemen. Kickoff is slated for 7pm at Concord.
