The Jimtown Jimmies and Bremen Lions added another chapter into their historical rivalry Friday night with the Jimmies pulling off the win 35-28. The Jimmies (4-4, 4-2 NIC South) came into the game off a tough loss to Riley the week prior, and the Lions (7-1, 5-1 NIC South) entered the game undefeated, ranked #4 in 2A, and had clinched a share of the NIC South crown.
Jimtown used a great mix of their powerful run game and a sharp passing game to keep the Lions on their heels. The 35 points scored by the Jimmies matched a season high, and it came against a Bremen defense who was averaging giving up 15 points per game.
Clay Campbell threw a perfect game at QB for Jimtown, going 9/9 for 212 yards and 2 touchdowns. Trey Washington scored 3 touchdowns, 2 on the ground, and 1 receiving. Jared Lyle caught a 55 yard touchdown, and Riley Lundy scored as well for the Jimmies.
The Jimmie ‘D’ came up big on the final play of the game, stopping the Lions 1 yard short of a first down on the Jimmie 11 yard line with 1:08 left in the game. Trey Washington and Tony Pletcher made the big tackle to seal the victory.
Jimtown’s final regular season game is Friday night at Knepp Field against South Bend Clay. It is Senior Night for the Jimmies, and kickoff is scheduled for 7pm.
